Transparency is key for healthy business relationships: UAS sends a follow-up letter to Jared Kushner
The Union of Architects of Serbia (UAS) has sent a follow-up to their letter from November 2025, in which they advised Jared Kushner to abandon the project of building a Trump Hotel at the General Staff Building Complex location in Belgrade.
A week before the fourth court hearing of the General Staff case takes place, UAS stresses the exceptional circumstances of the trial: the first related to the Trump family’s interests in Europe, the first in Serbian history with a current minister among the accused. And it takes place in the middle of an electoral campaign where issues at the heart of the trial are also key topics on the ballot.
UAS wanted to make sure that Jared Kushner and associates possess the latest elements related to the trial linked to their (past) project. UAS believes that all investors, including past prospects, deserve this level of diligence. And that it is a prerequisite for investors to ensure that their projects are compatible with the rule of law.
After summarizing five threads of events that happened since Affinity Partners withdrew, UAS concludes that all involved parties, foreign partners and investors included, have the responsibility to pay the closest attention to due diligence, and that they all deserve transparency and an operationally safe environment.
UAS sees it as a prerequisite for any form of healthy business relationship, grounded in the respect of human rights and of both domestic and international laws.
